Camping In Arches National Park

There’s only one option for camping in Arches National Park – Devils Garden Campground. For this reason, it can be tricky to reserve a spot here. You want to plan as much in advance as possible when booking a campsite here.

If you’re planning on camping in Arches National Park between March and October you definitely want to book your reservation 6 months in advance when campsites open up.

If you’re coming between November and February campsites are available on a first-come, first serve basis.

Camping Near Arches National Park

There’s tons of camping near Arches National Park! If you want to stay near the park, though, you’ll have to pay. The only free camping near Arches is 20+ miles away (more on those options later).

#2 Courthouse Rock Campground

Courthouse Rock Campground is located on BLM (public) land. While most of the campsites here are first-come, first serve, there are two sites (#5 and #6) which can be reserved ahead of time through the recreation.gov website.

This campground is located 16 miles north of Moab and can accommodate large RVs and trailers. There are also equestrian sites with horse corrals for those traveling with horses!

Up The Creek is a private campground that is tent-only (no noisy generators here!) and located just 2 blocks from downtown Moab. They offer several amenities, including hot showers in the bath house and grilling stations.

Keep in mind that this campground charges based on the number of guests, not the number of sites booked.

#4 Moonflower Canyon

Moonflower Canyon campground is located on BLM (public) land right near the Colorado River. Sites are first-come, first-serve and there are plenty of hiking options in the area.

Free Camping Near Arches National Park (Dispersed Camping)

Unfortunately, free camping near Arches National Park is becoming harder to find. All camping within 20 miles of Moab is paid camping, so you need to travel a little farther out to find free campsites. Luckily, there’s plenty of dispersed camping near Arches National Park!

Dubinky Well Road dispersed camping near Arches National Park is a popular spot. Because these are first-come, first-serve it’s best to come early in the day to snag a spot for the night.

Don’t expect any amenities here! But the views are great and the cell service is good enough.

#6 Gemini Bridges Road

Gemini Bridges Road camping near Arches National Park is a great option if you’re looking for solitude and a beautiful red rock backdrop. Keep in mind that the road in can be difficult to drive, and 4wd or high-clearance vehicles are recommended.

There are several sites large enough for groups, but don’t expect any amenities or cell service. Please remember to pack out all your trash!

Cotter Mine Road dispersed camping near Arches is a great place to watch the sunset and see spectacular night skies full of stars. The road in is a bit difficult, but any mid-sized vehicle can make it if you take it slow and careful.

There’s also decent cell service at this campground.

#8 Dripping Springs Area

Dripping Springs Area campground is fairly accessible, the road can be a little tricky and steep in some areas but any vehicle can make it if you drive carefully. This site is also far enough away from the main highway that you won’t hear road noise at night.

Cell signal is good here, but there are no amenities so be prepared to pack out your trash.

Picture Frame Arch Area is a good campsite for more popular times, like holidays. It doesn’t get quite as packed, but it also doesn’t have cell service and can get a little noisy with the ATVs in the area.

Pack Creek Campground is a private campground near Arches National Park that offers a lot of amenities. There are sites with full hookups, a dump station on site, and free wifi. They even have laundry services available.

Moab Rim Campark offers a resort vibe for campers. They have sites for RVs or tents, and they also rent out cabins. Unlike most of the camping near Arches National Park, Moab Rim Campark provides campsites with grass, which is a really nice perk.

There’s a snack shop on-site where you can buy ice cream, and the showers are hot! Plus, they offer $5 showers to anyone not staying on property – which is a great option if you’re boondocking elsewhere.

Also fairly close to Moab and Arches in winter is Hittle Bottom recreation site. It’s about 45-minutes to Moab and has 15 individual sites, which can accommodate larger RVs.
