Toilet paper is extremely bulky to try and stuff into your backpack, but these expandable biodegradable wipes work perfectly and take up almost no space!
Shop Amazon

36. Wilderness Wipes
I relied on these wilderness wipes frequently when living in my campervan full time. Shower’s aren’t always prevalent, especially on the trail.
These are thicker and larger than regular body wipes and work really well to clean up after a hike. I keep a set in my car at the trailhead for after long day hikes.
Shop Amazon

37. Whistle
This is a hiking essential, that unfortunately most people do not have. I like this one because it clips onto my shoulder strap for easy access.
Recently, I did have to rely on my whistle to flag down help while backpacking through the Grand Canyon. You won’t need it until you do – but you’ll be glad you have it.
Shop Amazon

38. Dry Bag
I use my dry bag for so many things. To keep my electronics dry. To keep my down jacket or sleepwear dry while backpacking. Or sometimes, I throw my dirty clothes in it so they don’t stink up the rest of my items. It’s also great for wet bathing suites.
Shop Amazon

Shop Amazon

41. Portable Bidet
This might seem like an unusual gift for an outdoorsy girl, but hear me out. With this, you don’t have to carry your used TP around. It’s also really great for long hair dogs – mine frequently has tummy issues and it’s a lot easier to hose him down with this than go through an entire roll of paper towels trying to clean him up.
Shop Amazon

42. Compass
I’m so used to relying on my phone for trail navigation, but sometimes my GPS signal is weak – especially in canyons with tall rock walls. A compass is a must-have while hiking.

Shop Amazon

45. Portable Power Bank
A good quality power bank is essential for hiking, backpacking, and general travel. For years I used a handful of inexpensive ones that were each only good for one charge – I will never do that again.
This bank is slim and lightweight and will recharge your phone several times.
It’s especially important to hike with a power bank when it’s cold outside. Your phone battery will die faster when you’re hiking in cold weather.
Shop Amazon

Water alone isn’t enough to stay hydrated when hiking in hot weather. You need to replenish the electrolytes you lose through sweating. Liquid IV has several flavors and they’re easy to drink.

Shop Amazon

48. Lifestraw
My brother gifted me one of these years ago. It’s lightweight and I always have it in my hiking backpack in case of emergency.

A water reservoir is a must have for hiking and this CamelBak is the perfect gift for outdoorsy girls. It slips into your backpack to make it easier to carry.

Shop Amazon

62. Patagonia Fanny Pack
I tried at least 5 different fanny packs before deciding on this one. It’s really lightweight and packs down small, but it still a lot.
I use mine for short hikes when I don’t need a backpack, or as a quick access pocket I can wear for longer hikes without having to get into my backpack for things.
Shop Amazon

64. Trekking / Hiking Poles
I thought trekking poles were a bit goofy until I was gifted some a few years ago. And now I won’t hike without them.

These are my favorite camp shoe. For backpacking trips, these double as my water crossing shoes and the ones I wear around camp to let my feet out of my hiking boots for a while.

90. Jetboil Camp Stove
My Jetboil is how I cook all my backpacking meals. I also take it with me on day hikes so I can make hot chocolate or tea at the summit.

Subscription and gift cards are always great for outdoorsy girls, especially if you need something you can send virtually.
101. AllTrails+ Membership
I live by my AllTrails+ membership. It’s about $3 per month but the paid version allows you to download offline maps (lets be honest, most trails don’t have signal so this is a necessity).
