Fiamma F45s Awning (Previously Fiamma F45)

Fiamma F45s is the newer version of the Fiamma F45 awning. It’s the same awning, but it comes in additional sizes and colors. If you’re buying a new Fiamma awning, you’ll be looking at the F45s.

The Fiamma F45s awning is perfect for most vans, including Ford Transit, Ram Promaster and Mercedes Sprinters.

It’s available in a variety of lengths, which makes it versatile your van. These are the recommended Fiamma 45s awning lengths for each van model:

Ford Transit 148″ WB – Fiamma F45s 300
Ford Transit 148″ Extended WB – Fiamma F45s 350

Mercedes Sprinter 144″ WB – Fiamma F45s 300
Mercedes Sprinter 170″ WB – Fiamma F45s 400

Ram Promaster 136″ WB – Fiamma F45s 300
Ram Promaster 159″ WB – Fiamma F45s 350
Ram Promaster 159″ Extended WB – Fiamma F45s 400

Additional sizes for the Fiamma F45s include 190, 260, and 450.

It’s available as a manual, or motorized awning. Plus, the Fiamma F45s comes in three color options: Black, Polar White and Titanium.

Fiamma F80s Awning (Previously Fiamma F80)

F80s is the new and improved version of the Fiamma F80 awning. Enhancements to F80s include stronger, wider arms, a streamlined design, and better integration with roof profiles.

Fiamma F80s awning is very similar to the F45s model, except its mounted on its bottom to the roof. Fiamma F45s is mounted on it’s back to either the van wall, or the side of your roof rack. If you don’t have solar panels, or a roof rack, Fiamma F80s is a good option.

Unfortunately, the Ford Transit van cannot accommodate the size of the Fiamma F80s awning because the roof drops down early. This decreases the horizontal space on the roof where a roof-mounted awning can attach.

If you have a Ford Transit, the Fiamma F45s is the best campervan awning.

These are the size recommendations for the Fiamma F80s awning:

Ford Transit 148″ WB – does not fit due to curve of roof line
Ford Transit 148″ Extended WB – does not fit due to curve of roof line

Mercedes Sprinter 144″ WB – Fiamma F80s 320
Mercedes Sprinter 170″ WB – Fiamma F80s 400

Ram Promaster 136″ WB – Fiamma F80s 320
Ram Promaster 159″ WB – Fiamma F80s 370
Ram Promaster 159″ Extended WB – Fiamma F80s 400

Like F45s, Fiamma F80s also comes in three color options: Black, Polar White and Titanium.

Fiamma F45s vs F80s – Mounting

The primary difference between the Fiamma F45s and Fiamma F80s is how they’re mounted.

F45s is a side or wall mounted awning, whereas F80s is a bottom or roof mounted awning.

If you want to install an awning directly to the sidewall of your van, or if you’d like to attach your awning to the vertical edge of your roof rack then the F45s is the best awning.

However, if you’d like to install your campervan awning to the top of your van along the factory roof rails, or to the horizontal surface of your roof rack then you should consider the F80s.

It’s also important to note that regardless of which Fiamma awning model you choose, you’ll likely need the correct adapter mounting hardware to match your vehicle, installation method, and awning model.

There are literally hundreds of variations of mounting hardware, so I highly recommend speaking with Fiamma or the dealer you’re purchasing from prior to placing your order, just to be certain.

Fiamma F45s vs F80s – Options & Add-Ons

Both F45s and F80s offer the same color options for the case box:

  • Polar White
  • Titanium
  • Deep Black

Additionally, there is an abundance of color options for the fabric. Unfortunately, the Fiamma F80s only comes in the first two color options (Royal Grey, Royal Blue):

  • Royal Grey
  • Royal Blue
  • Sahara (available for Fiamma F45s awning only)
  • Evergreen (available for Fiamma F45s awning only)
  • Bordeaux (available for Fiamma F45s awning only)

Depending on the length of your van, there are multiple lengths available for both F45s and F80s.

F45s is available from 185cm to 448 cm.
F80s is available from 290cm to 450cm.

Both F45s and F80s Fiamma awnings have optional motors available. However, my personal opinion is that motorized awnings are overrated and provide less stability overall, while being far more expensive than the manual options.

Both awning models come with telescoping legs. Telescoping legs are excellent for making adjustments to the height and pitch of the awning depending on sun angle, rain-shed and making adjustments for tall friends.

Lastly, if you’re debating between Fiamma F45s vs F80s and want to add upgrades, both awnings come with an abundance of add-ons.

  • Front and side panels
  • Full enclosures
  • Windows
  • Sunblockers
  • Bug screens
  • Rain caps (that prevent rain from dripping between your van and the awning gap)

Fiamma F45s Vs F80s – Wrapping It Up

So which one is best for you?

If you need a vertical mount then your best choice is F45s. If you need a horizontal mount then choose F80s.

However, if you’re flexible on mounting options then consider the length options. F45s will fit a smaller length van.

Lastly, F45s comes in more color options. If that tickles your fancy then F45s is a better choice than F80s.

Overall, Fiamma F45s awning is the better choice for most nomads.
